Living on Fort Moore

Fort Moore's Housing Division is committed in providing service members and their Families with the quality housing they deserve and therefore is responsible for policy, prioritization, resourcing and oversight of housing programs and services supporting Soldiers and their Families on the installation.

Fort Moore participates in the Residential Communities Initiative program conducted by the Department of Army.

The Army has chosen a management and development partner (Clark Realty Capital teamed with Michaels' Villages at Fort Moore) from the private sector to manage Fort Moore's family housing communities while also renovate and remediate existing housing.

There are approximately 4,001 family housing units in ten communities. 3,924 located on Fort Moore and 77 units located at Dahlonega, Georgia. Home type pictures and floor plans can be viewed at Villages at Fort Moorefloor plans and virtual tours .

Living on post has advantages and is currently in high demand. Due to high occupancy and ongoing renovations, Soldiers and Families arriving at Fort Moore should expect extended wait times of up to six months. Fort Moore provides on-post housing for 30% of its permanent party. As one of the busiest installations in the Army, future growth is increasing with the recent implementation of Infantry One Station Unit Training extension. The safety of our Soldiers and their families is crucial, as a result historic homes are currently underway with restoration and remediation. Turn time for houses due to new requirements, a two-step inspection protocol is also in place to ensure Fort Moore families in safe homes while residing on the installation.

Residing in on base housing is voluntary, not mandatory, except for personnel assigned to key and essential positions, as designated by the installation commander. All service members with a family housing requirement are eligible to apply for on base housing.

Service members will be required to choose one of the housing communities at the time of application and are then placed on the waiting list for on base housing based on their rank, bedroom requirement and communities chosen. Service members are responsible for keeping the Villages at Fort Moore Leasing Center informed of changes in eligibility status, unit, duty and home phone numbers.

Living off post, Housing Services Office

Soldiers and their Families who chose to live off the installation are encouraged to use the Housing Services Office, a Directorate of Public Works’ Housing Office service, which assists military personnel and their Families with all their off-post housing needs. The HSO team provides useful tools and information such as an up-to-date listing of available homes off of the installation, assisting with resolving landlord/tenant disputes, school information, utility waivers and pamphlets.
